Barzan Ali Abdul Aziz, Iraq’s swimming champion.

 

A decorated Iraqi swimmer and coach, Barzan is a legend of the sport.

 

Barzan was a crucial member of the Iraqi national swimming team and many swimming clubs in Iraq, which led him to hold 12 Iraqi national records during his youth career. He later took on the role of coaching the Iraqi national swimming team as he guided his swimmers to win second place in the fourth Arabian Gulf Championships in the UAE.

 

At 62 years old, Barzan is now a Master swimmer holding 18 Iraqi national records and 1 Arab record as he continues to compete in championships around the world and add to his impressive collection of records, medals and trophies. Barzan is currently preparing to cross the English Channel as the second Iraqi to ever do so after Aladdin Al-Nawab.
